What the future holds

Things are looking bright for the district.  Concept plans for the towns have been a great starting point but now Hurunui District Council planning changes and new subdivisions have given the district a solid way forward.

Amberley in particular is attracting significant interest from developers.

The Hurunui District Council has actively promoted a number of planning changes to help encourage and support business and industrial growth in Amberley. A new business zone has been introduced and a industrial zone created.

Developments in Amberley to keep an eye on include:

Brackenfields – a new supermarket and shopping complex is scheduled for completion late 2012 which promises to become a retail and commercial hub for all of North Canterbury.  Brackenfields also includes two subdivisions, the first of which, Oakfields will be available this year.

Wineberry Estate - 25 lots on Courage Road, Amberley.

Gore Bay also looks set to see some development because of a private plan change. The Buxton Gore Bay development is 7kms away from Cheviot and offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean.

Hanmer Springs is set in a high country basin, 385m above sea level.  There is never a dull moment, with plenty to do. Hanmer Springs is known as a great holiday location.  Current developments include St Helens Gate, a 10 Lot subdivision on Fraser Close.
